Neurotransmitters are involved in cellular communication and are necessary for the body to function in a healthy manner. Many diseases are caused by changes in neurotransmitter concentrations and exocytosis. However, the cellular processes of these changes are not well understood. The Shen lab focuses on developing interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES) electrodes to measure neurotransmitter exocytosis at the single cell level in these disease models. My focus is on the involvement of neurotransmitters in cancer propagation.
