Neuropeptides are critical for neuronal function and are often used to classify different types of neurons in the brain. However, neuropeptides have less well-defined structures than globular proteins and have proven challenging for conventional methods to generate antibody binders. Designing reliable binders for neuropeptides is therefore important for elucidating brain function and architecture. My project focuses on designing de novo protein binders in silico for these neuropeptides with the help of machine learning. This machine learning approach has been successful in designing binders for proteins that are major hurdles for conventional methods.
